Project Name: The Evolution of Popular Lyrics
Our group used web scraping along with the Genius.com API in order to acquire 25k+ songs appearing on the Billboard Hot 100 from 1958-2022. Investigated patterns across decades using techniques such as Topic Modeling (LDA) and Sentiment Analysis. Using these patterns, we created a classification model that predicted the decade of song, given its lyrics, by 191% over the baseline.
