Project Name: Getting Ahead of the Headline | Enron NLP Topic Modeling
How does a corporation go from being named Fortune Magazine's "Most Innovative Company" to filing one of the largest bankruptcy cases in history? In this NLP project we are exploring and modeling with Enron employee emails, looking for patterns and themes in employee sentiment over time. Our hypothesis is that distinct themes will correspond with the timeline of actual events that contributed to Enron’s collapse. This kind of analysis and modeling can be used by others in the early and uncertain initial awareness of suspicious activity by giving investigators, journalists, and other interested parties clues about where to focus the early stages of an investigation.
