Project Name: Impact of Pandemic on Texas Industries
We did a time series analysis to identify how TX industries were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of total employment. We explored if the impact was disproportionate for subgroups of the workforce in these most-affected industries. The subgroups are based on gender, age group, education, race, and ethnicity. Additionally, we characterized the times series data from 2020 using statistics and leveraged these new characterizations to cluster the industries into groupings based on how total employment in the industry was affected. Lastly, we forecasted the recovery timeline for the 12 most-affected industries and then forecasted resumption of pre-COVID behavior using historic seasonality and year-over-year change.
