My Capstone Project: Project Danger Zone

San Antonio is the 7th most populated, and one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S.A. In Bexar County alone, there were nearly 50,000 car crashes in 2020. Of these, 16,780 were injured, 200 died. With an increasing number of drivers on the roads, there is a recurring need to keep people safe. Using 2021 San Antonio car accident data, the Danger Zone project will look into features that are likely to cause casualties so that insight can be delivered to entities such as TXDot, Bexar County Public Works, insurance companies, and the general public. Our team of four hopes that being able to predict a casualty, using machine learning algorithms, will help the city take part in fixing underlying issues, and raise awareness for all drivers.

“With technology, I am most passionate about creating machine learning models that help humans understand more about themselves and the world around them, then utilizing those models in applications for insight on a personal level.
