My Capstone Project: Drought Predictions for San Antonio Using Time Series Analysis

The goal of this project was to predict when the next major drought will be occurring for San Antonio within a year span. Knowing when to expect a drought will allow city and county officials to better prepare for one, perhaps by putting water restrictions into affect earlier or by some other means. This will also greatly benefit farmers in the area since they rely on their crops or livestock to have access to water, and knowing when a drought is coming can also give them time to prepare for that. We first spent time gathering, cleaning, and understanding our data, then we went started creating our time series models. After fine tuning our model, we created a presentation of our findings, which we then presented to an audience at Data Scientist Day.
