My Capstone Project: Predicting Terrorism: Attributing Attacks in the Middle East & North Aftrica
My capstone project used 17 years of documented terror incidents to attribute responsibility for unclaimed attacks in the Middle East & North Africa. The final classification model reached 94% accuracy on test data, from a previous baseline of 33%. Ultimately, the model attributed ownership for 22,000 terror incidents that were previously not claimed by any group and beat the baseline modal prediction by 2.5 times. initial accuracy.
