My Capstone Project: We Came, We SAWS, We Conquered
Our goal was to predict the root cause of sewer overflow events in the city of San Antonio. Using sanitary sewer overflow data from San Antonio Water System (SAWS) and weather data from the NOAA, our project will be able to give our city a better understanding of the cause of these events and in turn, help better prepare SAWS for those events in the future. It is important to identify the cause of these events because the city spends over $100 million dollars a year on correcting issues with the sewers. Our team entered and took first place in San Antonio CivTechSA’ Datathon 2020.
