My Capstone Project: Data at the Museum
The NY Metropolitan Museum classifies less than .5% of their items as ‘Highlights’. Our team used supervised and unsupervised learning techniques to segment the dataset and determine what factors contribute to an item being a highlight. We were able to create a model to predict highlight items with 99% accuracy and a superb 75% precision. Analysis of the model’s predictions reveals underappreciated artworks that could be highlighted in future exhibits or targeted by other museums for their collections.
